In their third match of Bracket A, 949 Futsal faced off against the top-ranked team, Prodigy Futsal, an elite squad from the LA area known for their technical skill and speed of play. Despite a determined effort from the Orange County team, 949 lost a high-energy match, 12-5. "Prodigy played with incredible speed and sharp technical ability," said Coach Alex. "They train exclusively in futsal and looked like a professional team out there. Still, our boys fought hard and gained valuable experience." The game started with Prodigy jumping to a 3-0 lead within the first five minutes, but 949 didn't back down. Once they adjusted to the game's tempo, they began to push back and made the match more competitive. Juni Takemura led the offense with an impressive Hat Trick (3) goals, while Caleb Carmona and Selvin Monteflores each contributed a goal.
"Our boys showed tremendous heart and teamwork in this game and throughout the tournament," Coach Alex added. "This was an incredible learning opportunity, and I'm proud of the growth we've seen. We'll be back stronger next year." A big shoutout to all the players who made this journey special: Goalkeeper: Lean Mendez Noyola. Defenders: Anderson Esquivel Salguero, Caleb Carmona, and Matthew Robles. Midfielders/Forwards: Selvin Monteflores, Juni Takemura, and Derek Van Oort. Well done Boys, you represented 949 Futsal with pride!

Coach Alex called it "a valuable learning experience" after the Boys-2017 U-8 team played their first-ever futsal match against a strong Raptors FC squad. Although 949 trailed 3-0 at halftime, the boys showed resilience and growth by adjusting to the court, the heavier ball, and the pace of the game.
In the second half, 949 held the Raptors to just one goal and also scoring their first goal of the tournament, marking a significant step forward for the young team. Matthew Robles found the back of the net, assisted by Caleb Carmona, from a smooth build-up from the back. “It was a great team build-up with four to five quality passes before the final shot!” said Coach Alex. “It was a perfect first-ever futsal goal for our Boys U-8 team!” With this experience under their belts and teammate, Juni Takemura set to join the team tomorrow, Coach Alex is optimistic: "Tomorrow should see an even stronger performance!"
